Stained Concrete

Are you looking to transform your concrete

Staining concrete is one of the most popular applications for transforming concrete slabs. Often referred to as colored concrete, homeowners, designers and builders are drawn to stained concrete because of the unique outcome that can be achieved combining colors, application techniques, etc., on cement flooring and other substrates.

Acid Stain is not a paint or coating agent, rather, it’s a coloring process involving a chemical reaction on a cementitious material. Acid Stain’s give concrete a mottled, variegated, marble-like look. Never expect acid stains to be uniform or have an even tone, there will be different reactions from slab to slab, and even on the same job there may be different coloration patterns. Variations of colors and mottling are to be expected and enjoyed. It is the unique random coloration of the stain that gives an Acid Stained floor it’s charm.

Stained concrete is a very durable product if properly protected with sealer or wax, and it can be applied to both interiors and exteriors. In addition to the beauty, ease of maintenance and the benefit of a dust free surface, Stained Concrete is also a Flood-Resistant surface. This means that if your home suffers water damage, all you need do is clean the mess and apply a new coat of wax and the floor is looking good again. Acid Stain can be done on existing concrete if it is in good shape. If the concrete is deteriorated, a Micro-Finish will provide a new surface that will rival steel power-troweled concrete or use one of troweled down overlays to provide a new textured ready for staining.

What acid stains don’t offer is a broad color selection. You’ll mostly find them in a limited array of subtle earth tones, such as tans, browns, terra cottas, and soft blue-greens. We also offer concrete dyes to help expand the color palette and give a more exact color that is not dependent on a reaction from the concrete.

Dye staining, a solvent based pigmented dye is applied to the surface of the concrete. The dye penetrates into the concrete, sucked down into the pores through capillary action and tinting it from below the surface. Unlike acid staining, no chemical reactions take place and the final color is determined by the pigments mixed into the dye. Its main advantage is a more consistent coloring of the concrete surface, wider range of available colors, and faster application. It is used for interior areas only.

Decorative Concrete transforms your existing concrete into beautiful flooring, entryways, patios and driveways using decorative concrete scoring, etching and staining methods to create designs such as tile, marble or flagstone.

Designs and patterns are unique to you and can invoke motion with curves or repetition with straight tile-like patterns. Your results are sure to be eye-catching.

Concrete engraving is the process of cutting a small groove on the surface of the concrete to create a desired pattern such as squares or diamonds. Normally these are 24″ x 24″ or larger and require a border around the room to be scored. We also do custom patterns such as the Star of Texas, the North Star, and logos. Scoring can beautifully accentuate a room by drawing the eye from one pattern to the other.
